Barbara was born in Guadalajara, Mexico where she studied music in the Universidad de Guadalajara. During this time, she was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This caused a series of events that lead to the soprano to travel to Houston where, besides visiting the MD Anderson for a second opinion, she auditioned for the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston where she was granted a full scholarship to attend the Music program. But first she needed to go back to her hometown of Guadalajara to continue her treatment after receiving the same prognosis in Houston.
Bárbara was treated with aggressive chemotherapy sessions and radiation. Doctors warned the singer that she would lose her voice, and would never sing again, but God had different plans for her and miraculously her voice was never affected.
Against all odds, Bárbara finally received a bone marrow transplant that put an end to her ordeal with cancer. Her unwavering faith in God and the love of her family and friends saw her through. She obtained her Master’s degree in vocal performance from the University of Houston.,
She married her Husband, Kyle and the adopted their daughter, Elizabeth. They have their home in Houston, TX.
“If God doesn’t heal us, He’s still great., There’s always a plan from God that is better than our most beautiful dreams, At any rate, we have to know that this is not our final dwelling. Our eyes must be focused on Eternity. The fight is ours; the results are up to God…
At the end of the journey, on the last day of our lives, we want to say: I did what I could and not: I could have done more.” –Bárbara Padilla.
